Design & Other is a creative partnership between designers Cameron Lofthouse and Monica Placella. Their work merges computer-based and handmade design processes and investigates the interface between art and design practice.

They spent the best part of three years travelling and working throughout Asia and Europe and, in 2011, undertook their first silkscreen project, 'In Giro'. This project, which documented their travels visually, was a significant milestone in their collaboration. It drove them to take on subsequent projects locally and abroad to further understand the medium of silkscreen printing.

The early years of staring at CRTs and playing the NES formed an obsession with pixels for both of them. They were mesmerised by how the tiny squares shifted and fell, which sparked a passion for their endless possibilities. D&O's work carries this undercurrent of playfulness and shared experience.

Lofthouse and Placella were born in Echuca and Melbourne, respectively, and met while studying Communication Design at Swinburne University. They now call Kyneton, Australia home.

When they aren't eyes-deep in bitmap patterns, they also create branding projects, as Drooly Noted.
